Ecuador's higher education authority provides procedures through which foreign academic degrees can be evaluated for recognition and registration in the National Higher Education Information System (SNIESE).
The applicable procedure depends on the credential. SENESCYT currently distinguishes general foreign degrees, doctoral PhD degrees, and professional or academic degrees in health-related fields.
Online and distance-learning credentials can be considered.
SENESCYT states that degrees completed online or at a distance may be
recognized, except for careers or programs that Ecuadorian regulations
prohibit from being delivered in those modalities.
