Route 1

Available only for foreign degrees and diplomas included in Portugal's official list for automatic recognition and considered comparable in level, objectives, and nature to specified Portuguese qualifications.

Route 2

Level Recognition

An individualized comparison that determines whether a foreign higher education qualification corresponds to a Portuguese academic degree or diploma level.

Route 3

Specific Recognition

A more detailed academic assessment that considers the level, duration, and academic content or field of the foreign qualification in relation to a Portuguese qualification.

The Directorate-General for Higher Education participates in the recognition system and handles automatic recognition applications alongside Portuguese public higher education institutions.

Public Universities & Polytechnics

Degree Evidence

Applicants must provide documentation that clearly proves the foreign higher education degree or diploma was awarded.

NARIC Information

Portugal's ENIC/NARIC information can provide information about foreign qualification levels and institutions, but it does not replace the formal degree recognition process.
